I don`t understand George Bush questioning Michael Dukakis` patriotism and lambasting him for being a ”liberal, card-carrying member of the ACLU.” Bush needs to think for a minute: The American Civil Liberties Union is dedicated to upholding the highest law of the land, the U.S. Constitution. What`s so liberal about that? The ACLU has strengthened our country by preserving our Bill of Rights, which guarantees many of the rights and freedoms that flag-waving Americans are so proud of. The fact is, the ACLU has a much longer track record than Bush has in keeping our country free and strong.
If Bush really wanted to show how patriotic he can be, he`d quit paying lip-service to the American flag and start paying membership dues to the ACLU.
