Birthday: June 15, 1964.

Birthplace: Birmingham, Ala.

Occupation: Actress.

Current home: Hollywood Hills, Calif.

Marital status: Single.

Car: A 1973 midnight-blue BMW coupe.

Working on: Playing Lauren Miller on ”Family Ties” on NBC-TV; I`m in

”Cocoon II,” which just came out; and I`m in ”I`ll Be Home for Christmas,” an NBC Movie of the Week.

The book I`ve been recommending lately is: ”Presumed Innocent,” by Scott Turow.

Personal hero: Katharine Hepburn. I like her attitude and the way she has protected her privacy.

When I have children, I`ll try to teach them: That friends are really important and you shouldn`t stab them in the back.

My fantasy is: I`ve just achieved it. I just bought my dream house, an old English country home. I can`t wait until it`s all fixed up and I have my dogs and I`m really comfortable with my life.

The worst advice my mother ever gave me was: My mother worried too much about what other people were thinking. She tried to please too many people. I just try to please myself.

If I could change one thing about myself, I would: Relax a little bit and stop being so neurotic.

I knew I was a grownup when I: Moved to New York when I was 17 and started modeling and supporting myself.

My most irrational act: I was running out of money, and I stopped and played a shell game on a street in New York. I lost my savings, $70.

When I`m feeling sorry for myself, I: Call my friends or my mother.

Nobody would believe it if they saw me: With my tool belt around my waist, fixing everything in my house. I`m a real handyman.

The worst time of my life: High school. The kids in the cool clique can be very mean. I don`t have a lot of friends from high school.

Behind my back my friends say: ”She`s so high strung.”

If I`ve learned one thing in life, it`s: Don`t burn any bridges.

When people first meet me, they think I`m: Sweet.
