I must respond to Martha Strong Williams` letter to Voice of the people. She is disturbed by the use of disposable diapers on our children, in apparent disregard to the ”massive landfill problems in our country.”

While I have to agree with her concerns, she has left me wondering if she has computed the amount of recyclable glass, aluminum and paper she disposes of weekly.

The time I save using disposable diapers allows me the time I spend sorting glass, aluminum and paper for recycling and for nurturing my children, another important natural resource.

I hope before long biodegradable diapers will be readily available, but we must examine and utilize all solutions to this grave problem before it`s too late.
