Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It took a while, but I got used to skipping the first 12 paragraphs in a sports story so that I could find the score.

I`m not going to give in that easily on the news pages. It seems like every story begins with the reporter ”setting the scene.” Then there`s a quote about how bad things are. Then the lead begins to poke its head out. By that time I`ve lost interest.

I read the newspaper for news. If I want to read ”writing” I`ll stick with Twain, James and the other pros.
