The other night I watched the James Cagney movie ”Love Me or Leave Me”
on Channel 11. It reminded me of how Cagney always masterfully played the
”tough guy” role to perfection, without ever uttering a single curse word.
But then in those days a movie was acclaimed a hit on the merits of its plot and the performances of its actors, not on the amount of profanity it contained.
