Your editorial ”Running electricity through City Hall” was about the most unpatriotic and irresponsible one you have ever published.

You implied that Commonwealth Edison would be a better manager than the City of Chicago. How could the city be a worse one than a company that raises its rates twice as fast as the growth of the consumer price index? How could it be worse than a company whose high rates have driven out industry so that the growth in our gross state product is substantially slower than the gross national product`s rise?

How could it be worse than a company that gives the city 4 percent of its revenues while its own coffers take in 19 percent? How could it be worse than a company that charges, on the average, 39 percent more than its competitors to the north and south?

You did not mention that Chicago`s rates are among the highest in the nation. Or the part of the mayor`s task force report that said very large corporations choose other locations because of our high electric rates.
