Thank you for a perceptive editorial concerning the Chicago Film Office. I`d like to clarify one point.

The mayor was misinformed when he said, ”She replaced someone, didn`t she?” I did not. The position was created by Harold Washington and I was the first to fill it.

What is most important is the job was advertised; qualified members of the community were encouraged to apply; a search committee recommended three finalists and several months later, I was selected.

Throughout the entire time, the process was open-with never one hint of cronyism. Were that attitude to prevail in this administration, it would be a benefit to everyone concerned.
