Jerome Slad, 72, a former Cook County Circuit Court judge, died Monday at his winter home in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Mr. Slad, a lifelong North Side resident, served 18 years as a Circuit Court judge in both the divorce and law divisions before his retirement in 1982. A Republican, he also ran for U.S. Congress in 1952 and the Illinois state Senate in 1956 with GOP backing, but was defeated both times. Mr. Slad is survived by his wife, Elia; a son, Jerry; three daughters, Andrea, Maria Stoncius and Lisa Hanauer; a sister; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 1035 N. Dearborn St. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Assumption Catholic Church, 323 W. Illinois St.
