Cook County Crimestoppers, a program that offers cash rewards for anonymous information on serious crimes, took $723,000 in drugs and 45 guns off the street last year and helped indict 54 crime suspects, according to a 1989 report issued by the group.
The organization, which takes phone tips on crime and passes them on to police, also paid $4,250 in rewards last year to tipsters whose information led to arrests and indictments, according to the report.
