Producer-director-editor Kirk Spencer`s diverse interests are reflected in ”Financial Focus” and ”Judaism Today,” two new shows the public access aficionado has cooked up for WHBC-Continental Ch. 51.
Scheduled to begin next month, ”Financial Focus” features investment representative Gary Pearte. ”I asked him to do a show because what he was telling me at one point or another was that people don`t know that much about investments,” said Spencer. ”There are so many variables involved with finance.”
Spencer said Pearte talks about the differences between investments, whether stocks or bonds, and what the trends for the `90s should be, with guests and studio audience members.
”Gary likes a studio audience. He doesn`t like just talking to a camera,” said Spencer. ”It adds some depth to it.”
Spencer said he was motivated to produce ”Judaism Today” after a friend told him, ”What I know about Judaism could fit on the head of a pin.”
”The idea is to show people what Judaism is all about,” he said. Hosted by Rabbi Steven Bob of the Etz Chaim synagogue in Lombard, the show also will attempt to dispel common misconceptions about the religion and explain the differences between various Jewish sects, Spencer said.
