I thank the members of the Illinois General Assembly who voted for riverboat gambling, because they confirmed my suspicion that the state is run by a ”simple majority” of self-serving, politically motivated automatons.
As I understand it, in a predominantly partisan political action, the bill was passed ”inadvertently” omitting limits on bets.
I find it hard to accept that this was merely overlooked; no one is that stupid, and no-limit betting is what Sen. Dennis Jacobs wanted in the first place. Some ”accidents” are just a little too convenient.
Even if the no-limit betting gambit was an accident, one has to wonder what kind of partisan, rubber-stamp legislating is going on when legislators vote for something without bothering to read it first.
