Controversial AIDS prevention advertisements targeting blacks have been placed on CTA buses and trains, more than a year after they were rejected by the Chicago Transit Authority, an American Civil Liberties Union official said Wednesday.
The posters depict a number of images, including a naked man and woman sitting next to each other and holding a condom package. The message warns against drug abuse and sex without condoms and gives the network`s telephone numer. ”AIDS In The Black Community Is Very Real,” the poster says.
The ACLU filed suit in federal court last September, challenging the CTA`s refusal to sell advertising space for the posters developed by the Kupona Network, which educates blacks about the deadly disease.
CTA spokesman Jeff Stern had no comment Wednesday.
