From the lips of a cab driver came an enlightened expression that I thought should be shared.

In speaking of the controversy over apartheid in South Africa, I said it was unfortunate to see such divisiveness between blacks and whites in our own country. I immediately corrected myself: ”Excuse me,” I said, ”I mean African Americans.” To which he replied, in words I believe should be instilled in the hearts of all of us, ”No need to apologize, sir. Just call me a Human American.”

May all who lend themselves to this divisiveness learn well.
