If the District of Columbia is to be made a state, the reason for having a federal district outside the jurisdiction (and, supposedly, the influence)
of any state is no longer valid. If a federal district isn`t needed, and it isn`t, the simplest solution is to do the same as was done in 1846 when that portion donated by Virginia was returned to that state because it wasn`t needed. Now is the time to give the rest of the District back to Maryland.
