I was glad to hear that General Motors is nearing a decision on whether to produce electric cars, and I hope it decides to do it. We can and must quit being a fossil fuel society. Electricity can provide virtually all of our energy needs.

But I was also shocked at a statement made by Roger Smith, GM chairman:

” … It`s bad enough we`re going to leave our grandchildren with a bankrupt nation, we don`t want to leave them with a bankrupt environment …. ”

I have known for some time that America is in financial trouble, and that we must accept significant changes to restore financial health. But I didn`t think that the chairperson of such a large corporation was ready to make such an admission.
