A fire and explosion ravaged a building housing an Algonquin landscaping equipment company Wednesday before it was brought under control by
firefighters from three municipalities.
A fire broke out shortly after 5 p.m. and touched of an explosion at the block-long showroom for Barrington Outdoor Power Equipment at 10800 Chase Ave., fire officials said.
No injuries were reported in the blaze which could be seen more than a mile away, officials said. It was brought under control by about 7:30 p.m. by Algonquin firefighters, who were joined by crews from Huntley and Cary.
