Contrary to your editorial of March 10, the PLO continues to demand ”an effective international conference with full powers … under UN supervision and patronage and with the participation of five permanent members of the security council …” (Fifth Fatah General Congress, Aug. 9, 1989).
The PLO views every political step as a preliminary toward convening an international conference. Its design is to impose a solution on Israel including an independent Palestinian state, self-determination and ”the right of return” of Palestinians to Haifa, Tel Aviv, etc. This is tantamount to the dismemberment of Israel in stages.
