Fire and police investigators were trying to determine the cause of a fire that gutted a South Side building Tuesday afternoon and left a number of people homeless, officials said.
No one was injured in the fire, which gutted the building at 305 E. Garfield Blvd., according to Fire Department spokesman Earl Larsen.
