The Illinois State Board of Education has awarded a $75,280 grant to Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 and Oswego Community Unit School District 308 to develop a pilot program to interest students in science.

The joint program will target girls and low-achieving students, said Sher Renken, District 204 science curriculum coordinator and co-author of the grant proposal.

The purpose of the project, titled ”The Science Connection: Linking Students with Scientific Literacy and Technology,” is to provide hands-on, real-world activities and deal directly with solving problems, according to the districts` announcement.
