In pushing his ignorant theories on the social disease of AIDS, Mike Royko is perpetuating an equally harmful social disease-ignorance.
His April 2 column offers numerous digressions from its stated topic of gay ”outing.” While Royko`s opinions on gay life are beneath contempt, I admit that he has every 1st Amendment right to say them.
He ought not, though, intrude into matters of public health on which he is clearly uninformed. ”Few non-homosexuals or drug-needle users are in danger” of AIDS? Try telling that to the parents of the more than 2,000 HIV- infected children born every year.
