Two letter writers (Voice, 2 April) draw dubious conclusions from recent election results.

Mary Cvack concludes that all those who voted for Steven Baer did so because of his positions on taxes and abortion. Paul A. Cigna concludes that the close Pullen-Mulligan results ”prove that the country is split almost 50-50 on the abortion issue.”

Regarding abortion, I am strongly pro-choice. However, I voted for Mr. Baer, and, if I lived in her district, I would have voted for Ms. Pullen. The reason was the same for each candidate: strong support for the right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.

The right to keep and bear arms is the keystone of freedom and, as such, is more important than any other issue.

If you don`t believe that, ask a Lithuanian.
