If there ever were a prototype for a college-style apartment, this is it. Located just off the Northwestern campus, near the heart of Evanston, this three-bedroom vintage apartment offers convenience without the need for an automobile. Add the fact that the rest of the building boasts ”more degrees than a thermometer,” and you`ve got the perfect home for students or recent graduates looking to share expenses.

We won`t lie and tell you this place is in mint condition, but it carries a patina of wear that is attractive and gives it that lived-in feeling. From the recently sanded wooden floors to the fireplace (sorry, decorative only), the living room is comfortable and separate from the bedrooms-perfect for playing a stereo while someone in the back is trying to catch some sleep.

The kitchen is large, though sorely lacking in counter space-and if you`re looking for a dishwasher, you`d better bring your own.

The first bedroom off the large main hallway is small, but hardly a closet. And, because it has its own bathroom, it would probably be the first choice. Down the hall, the other two bedrooms-one very large, the second about one-third the size-share a bathroom but have the advantage of seclusion and better light.

Add a dining room that could comfortably seat six-or a pool table-and it`s clear the place was built for students. Also, if you`re looking for a home that will accept pets, this is it-though it will cost you an extra $15 a month.

This apartment is available immediately or May 1. For more information, call 346-8171.
