The Du Page County 911 emergency telephone executive board has recommended that Kane County`s 911 board handle all calls from the Du Page County portions of Aurora and Wayne, about 7,400 telephone lines.

”Most of Aurora is in Kane County, and the telephones in those two communities are currently handled by Illinois Bell stations in Kane,” said Ted Vratny, board secretary.

The move calls for the 50 cents that is collected every month from each telephone line user in those areas to be given to Kane County. Du Page voters approved the 911 referendum proposal in April 1989, and the countywide system- excluding Burr Ridge and Naperville, which are planning their own systems-is expected to be in operation in 1991.

Kane County voters approved the same proposal in November, and their system is expected to become operational about six months after the Du Page operation begins.

Through the 50-cent surcharge, the Du Page 911 board has collected about $820,000 of the estimated $3 million to $4 million startup cost of the project.
