Regarding John Leo`s April 15 article ”Touchiness aplenty,” he is quite cynical about an issue that Arab-Americans do not take lightly. Arab-bashing by cartoonists, stand-up comedians, talk show hosts, politicians and a number of other media figures is a reality. It stems, among other things, from a lack of understanding of the dynamics of conflict in the Middle East.
In an era when advertised ethnic bias against other ethnic groups is unacceptable-and rightly so-a Chicago grocery put up a sign reading ”No Arabs involved.” It is tragic that a writer should consider the Arab-American Anti- Discrimination Committee to be no more important than the Candy Corn Anti-Discrimination Committee! Do spare us such pseudo-profound, pseudo-
philosophical nonsense!
