– Palatine 4, Rolling Meadows 3-Jason Skicewicz tripled and scored on a ground out by Brian Smith (2 for 4) as No. 6 Palatine (12-4, 6-2) prevailed in eight innings in the Mid-Suburban crossover. Skicewicz earned a save when he came on in the bottom of the eighth with runners on first and second, two out and a full count on the batter. Skicewicz`s only pitch got a strikeout to end the game.

– Maine South 6, Waukegan West 1-No. 7 Maine South lifted its Central Suburban South record to 7-0 as pitcher Bob Scafa went the distance to get the win. Jeff Chupich, Jim Rushford and Scafa had two hits apiece for the Hawks. Jose Silva had three hits and scored the only run for Waukegan (13-6, 5-2).

– Thornwood 21, Eisenhower 9-Cliff Floyd was 4 for 4 with two homers and five RBIs, Craig Gronowski drove in four runs and Jon Dunlap was 3 for 4 with two RBIs as No. 8 Thornwood (11-2, 3-0) rolled in the SICA East.

– Aurora Central 13, Glenbard South 3-Dan Crawford (2-0) scattered three hits and fanned seven and Scott Card (four RBIs) and Mike Trimarco contributed three-run homers as once-beaten Aurora Central (14-1) romped.

– Young 6, St. Rita 4-Hector Guzman (5-1) hurled a three-hitter and struck out 11 and Jan Knutsen had two hits and two RBIs for Young (8-3-1).

– Montini 10, St. Francis 0-Jeff Tuohy gave up only one hit in six innings, struck out nine and belted a grand slam, and Greg Bleers drove in two runs with three hits for Montini (10-3, 3-2) in the Suburban Catholic.

– H-F 12, Bloom Trail 0-Mike Jarosky (3-0) scattered four hits, Scott Smith belted a three-run homer and Dennis Endes was 3 for 3 with three RBIs for Homewood-Flossmoor (6-4, 3-2) in the SICA East.

– Westmont 6, Lisle 2-Bill Michelon (5-1) tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine and Jason Jordan had a two-run double for Westmont (10-6, 3-2) in the Northeast Conference.

– Andrew 11, Joliet West 4-Brian Cummins struck out nine, Brian Ganser had a two-run double and Chris Delaney and John Wear each drove in two runs with two hits as Andrew (11-3, 4-1) rolled in the SICA West.

– Woodstock 10, Crystal Lake South 2-Brett Laureys hurled a one-hitter, Joel Bosman (three RBIs) walloped two homers and Shane Rank added a two-run blast to pace Woodstock (5-3 in the Fox Valley).

– Reed-Custer 17, Plano 6-Tom Kennedy belted three home runs, one a grand slam, and drove in eight runs for Reed-Custer (11-1) in the Interstate Eight. – Plainfield 13, Waubonsie Valley 3-Kevin Keagle (4-1) hurled a five-hitter and fanned 10 and Matt Surges was 5 for 5 with five RBIs for Plainfield (11-2, 8-1) in the Little Seven.

– Lemont 16, Luther North 7-Randy Bromberek (2 hits, three RBIs), Hank Palmer (three hits, two RBIs), Tim Markley (two hits, two RBIs), Brian Phelan (two RBIs) and Ralph Pukula (three hits) paced Lemont (13-2).

– Barrington 6, Conant 3-Jason Schumaker was 2 for 3, with a homer (his 11th) and three RBIs, scored twice and stole two bases to lead Barrington

(16-7, 6-3 in the Mid-Suburban North). Matt Krause also had two hits and two runs scored for the Broncos.

– Lincoln-Way 12, Lockport 7-Jerry Hannion (5 RBIs, grand slam), Scott Jacobek (4 for 4, three doubles) and Dave Bernhard (3 for 4, home run, three RBIs) paced Lincoln-Way in the SICA West.

– Marian Catholic 3, Joliet Catholic 2-Trailing 2-0, Rob Swanson drilled a two-run double and scored on a wild pitch as Marian Catholic (10-4-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Joliet Catholic fell to 9-3.

– New Trier 21, Deerfield 9-Scott Berardi had three homers and five RBIs, Peter McDowell had three hits, including a grand slam, Chad Berardi had three RBIs, Dan Lyons two and David Martay had three hits as New Trier (10-4-1, 6-1) romped in the Central Suburban crossover.

– Evanston 5, Waukegan East 4-Paul King drove in four runs, including the game-winner in the ninth inning, and Brian Murphy (2 for 3) scored the winning run as Evanston (10-3, 5-2) nudged No. 9 Waukegan East in the Central Suburban.

– Hinsdale South 1, York 0-Pete Peterson tripled and scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning during a rundown at second base and Mark McNellis (1-1) scattered six hits to pace Hinsdale South in the West Suburban crossover.

– Marmion 6, Batavia 6-Matt Carlson`s one-out, two-run seventh-inning double lifted Marmion Military over Batavia.

– Glenbrook South 6, Maine West 2-John Minelli (3 for 3) and Marcus Logan drove in two runs apiece for Glenbrook South in the Central Suburban.

– Stagg 11, Oak Lawn 3-Rob Garcia (three hits), Jim Kuzak (two doubles) and Mike Sikma (two hits) each drove in three runs for Stagg in the SICA North.

– Reavis 12, Sandburg 11-Reavis prevailed when Jason Czarnecki delivered a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the seventh inning.

– Highland Park 3, Maine East 2-Highland Park pushed across the winning run in the sixth on a bad-hop RBI-grounder by Marc Lawrence. Winning pitcher Scott Lidskin had opened the inning with a double and a pinch runner had moved to third on a ground out and a walk.

– St. Gregory 8, Quigley North 3-Juan Vasquez pitched 6 2/3 innings and was 3 for 4 at the plate for St. Gregory (3-7, 3-3) in the Chicago Prep.

SOFTBALL

– Thornwood 13, Eisenhower 0-No. 1 Thornwood (13-4, 2-0 in the SICA East) won handily as Tina Zuccolo (9-1) struck out 10 and gave up one hit to earn her seventh shutout of the season. Tracy Beard, Emily Prno and Shannon Huston each had three hits for the Thunderbirds and Jenny Radtke had a two-run homer.

– Evanston 7, New Trier 6-Evanston (7-3, 2-2 in the Central Suburban South)

posted its first win over archrival New Trier in seven years as winning pitcher Tracey Elikan, Tamika Chess and Heidi Toft had two RBIs apiece.

– Andrew 5, Joliet West 2-Stacy Zarembski (8-4) got the win for Andrew (9-8, 3-2 in the SICA West) as Lesa Arvia had two RBIs.

– Riverside-Brookfield tournament-Kate Enochs (9-4) hurled a no-hitter, struck out eight and walked one and Nicole Walker drove in four runs with two hits as Benet Academy (10-6) blanked Riverside-Brookfield 10-0.

Maria (15-2) beat Immaculate Heart of Mary (15-2) 3-2 with Jonelle Mrozek scoring on a fielder`s choice grounder in the 11th inning, giving Maria its second win over IHM this season.

– Maine South 9, Glenbrook South 0-Winning pitcher Jane Steffen (4-1) had a two-run triple and Julie Morell a two-run double to key a four-run fourth inning, and Jenny Warno (two RBIs) and Diane Wolf had two hits apiece for Maine South (9-2, 4-0) in the Central Suburban South.

– Hinsdale South 4, Addison Trail 2-Michelle Stark (11-1) hurled a two-hitter and struck out nine to lift Hinsdale South (14-1, 3-1) in the West Suburban Gold.

– Sandburg 13, Reavis 2-Jenny McGuiness (3 for 3, two-run homer, three RBIs)

and Jenny Barczi (3 for 3, three RBIs) powered Sandburg (12-1, 3-0) in the SICA North.

– Lyons 3, Proviso West 0-Junior right-hander Jen Blondis hurled a no-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts in her first varsity start, Laura Perek had a solo homer and Kristie Hoheisel and Jennifer Galto had RBI singles for Lyons (12-3, 5-0 in the West Suburban Silver).

– Hoffman Estates 3, Fremd 0-Annette Cunningham (5-4) and Julie Willis combined for a no-hitter. Katy Winski was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Hoffman Estates (6-8, 4-4) in the Mid-Suburban North.

– Lake Zurich 10, Crystal Lake South 4-Kris Kowalczyk (2-0) had a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and was 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Natalie Goglin was 2 for 2 with a run-scoring triple and three runs scored for unbeaten Lake Zurich

(9-0).

– Woodlands 14, Francis Parker 3-Mary Kraft (3-0, four-hitter), Sarah Feeley

(four RBIs), Alice Ostdiek (3 for 4, three RBIs) and Anna Perry (4 for 4, three RBIs) paced Woodlands Academy (6-1, 5-1) in the Independent School League.

– Joliet Central 3, Bolingbrook 0-Jenny Scott (6-4) struck out 15 and walked only one en route to her second straight no-hitter for Joliet Central (7-6, 3-0) in the SICA West. Scott has 39 strikeouts and only four walks in 15 innings of no-hit pitching.

– Downers North 10, Hinsdale Central 1-Linda Cook (4 for 5, two RBIs) drove in two runs and Brandi Peck, Chercy Lott, Karen Kipp, Kim Plumley and Sarah O`Malley each drove in a run as Downers Grove North (7-5, 2-3) scored nine runs in the bottom of the eighth in the West Suburban Silver.

– Stagg 12, Oak Lawn 0-Michele Meier (5-3) hurled a two-hitter, Shelly Britton had a two-run homer and Sandi Bala was 3 for 3 with three RBIs for Stagg in the SICA North.

– Downers South 3, Morton 2-Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh with two out in the West Suburban Gold, Downers Grove South (9-4, 3-1) scored three runs when Bryanna Owen drilled a two-run single and Kim Dillavou scored the winning run on an overthrow at the plate.

– Mundelein 12, Grayslake 2-Winning pitcher Cindy Shark (4-1) was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Lynette Kowalke was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Pam Wiesner drove in two runs with two hits for Mundelein (11-3).

– Deerfield 15, Regina 8-Beth Bernstein, who has nine hits in as many at-bats in the last two games, was 5 for 5 with a triple and four RBIs for Deerfield. SOCCER

– Oak Forest 1, Rich South 0-Elizabeth Coakley scored the game`s only goal on a free kick. Vicki Sneed had four saves in goal to get the shutout for Oak Forest (6-3-1, 4-1 in the SICA Central).

– Lake Forest Academy 3, Wauconda 2-Alison Hogarth had all three goals for Lake Forest (5-0-2).

– Homewood-Flossmoor 11, Bremen 0-H-F (5-5, 4-1) got two goals and three assists from Mary McLinden and two goals from Shannon Flanagan. Jean Harrison had two saves to post her fourth shutout.
