Every time I read or hear the phrase ”drug abuse,” I wince. One does not abuse a drug-one uses it.

It also galls me when I hear a politician admit to having

”experimented” with marijuana 20 years ago. Did he send it to a lab for analysis? Or did he smoke it and get high?

Clearly, one of the prime casualties in the ”war on drugs” has been the English language.
