Sox are 12-7, in 1st place, 1 game ahead of New York.

– 1970-Pete Rose`s 2-run homer in the 9th inning off Fergie Jenkins breaks 5-5 tie and gives Cincinnati a 7-6 victory before a crowd of 32,255 at Wrigley Field. Johnny Bench, Lee May and Bernie Carbo also hit home runs off Jenkins, who`s 2-5 with 11 homers allowed in 58 2/3 innings thus far. Cubs are 15-11, in NL East lead, 2 1/2 games ahead of New York.
