Some towns are funny because of their names.
”I just found a place called Wilmerding, Pennsylvania,” Al Katz said.
”There`s also a Big Bone Lick National Park in Kentucky.”
Stickney, Katz noted, is funny because of its name. Berwyn is funny because it`s Berwyn.
”There are standard lines that a lot of comics use when you get the name of a town from the audience,” he said. ”If someone says he`s from Eola, I`ll say, `I guess you`re over here in St. Charles (Zanies at Pheasant Run) for supplies.` ”
What do the comedians have to say about your town?
”If you cause trouble in Siberia, where do the Russians send you?
Probably Villa Park.”
Dean ”Big Mac” McDonald
”I always enjoy visiting Addison, where hospitality is not just a word. It`s an abstract concept.”
Tim Cavanagh
”When kids in St. Charles are bad, their parents threaten to send them to Calumet City. I grew up about $100,000 east of here-in Berwyn.”
Jeff Schlesinger
When I moved to Downers Grove, I thought it was where they made Quaaludes.”
Dale Irvin
”St. Charles is the gateway to Elgin.”
Al Katz
”I live in Wood Dale-a suburb of Bensenville.”
Rusty Blades
”The sign at the city limits of Elmhurst says, `We Arrest Drunk Drivers.` What do the other communities do? Challenge them to softball?”
Mike Toomey
”Aurora. Isn`t that a toilet tissue?”
