– Lyons 9, Proviso West 1-No. 6 Lyons (18-3, 11-0) clinched the West Suburban Silver title as Kristie Hoheisel threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts.
– Morton 14, Addison Trail 1-Rocky Romero and Meggin Booth had three hits each and Dawn Karkoska threw a 3-hitter for No. 7 Morton (20-5, 9-1 in the West Suburban Gold).
– Morris 1, Joliet St. Francis 0-No. 8 Morris (26-2) got the win for pitcher Kindra Phelps with a seventh-inning run. Katie Borgstrom came home with the winning run on an error after singling and stealing second.
– West Aurora 1, East Aurora 0-Missy Lawrence (19-4) got the three-hit shutout for West Aurora (20-4, 13-4), which clinched the Upstate Eight title. – Young 17, Clemente 5-Wilesha Hargrow had three hits and four RBIs and Alaine Lundstrom had two hits and five RBIs to lead a 16-hit attack for Young (11-1, 8-1), which clinched the Public North Central title.
– Marshall 17, Juarez 13-Marshall (12-4, 10-1) clinched the Public West championship as Matrese Hunter got four hits and seven RBIs.
– Glenbard East 14, Glenbard South 2-Erin Daniels went 3 for 3 for Glenbard East (13-8, 8-5 in the Du Page Valley).
– Downers Grove North 9, Hinsdale Central 5-Karen Kipp and Alexis Andrews had three hits apiece for Downers Grove (13-9, 6-6 in the West Suburban Silver).
– Oak Park 3, Glenbard West 2-Abbie Brundage`s 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh was the difference for Oak Park (15-9, 9-2 in the West Suburban Silver).
– Evanston 4, New Trier 2-Evanston (14-6, 5-3) triumphed as Tracey Elikan
(13-4) threw a six-hitter.
– Mundelein 16, Stevenson 0-Lynette Kowalke threw a one-hitter to get the win for Mundelein (21-4, 14-1 in the North Suburban) and Ashley Struggles and Kowalke both had two hits.
– Lake Forest 9, Warren 6-Amanda Coggin had four hits and two RBIs to pace Lake Forest (13-8, 11-3 in the North Suburban).
– Prospect 4, Elk Grove 3-Lori Moore and Meredith Terplitz had two hits each for Prospect (15-3, 13-3 in the Mid-Suburban South). Jennifer Hernet (13-0)
got the win for Prospect.
– Reed Custer 6, Coal City 3-Reed Custer (21-3, 11-0 in the Interstate Eight) stayed ahead of Coal City (12-5, 9-2) as Missy Nowak struck out eight and allowed six hits.
– Ridgewood 7, St. Benedict 5-Teresa Zeman had three hits and three RBIs and Betsy Kraft got the game-winning RBI in the seventh as Ridgewood (10-9, 5-1)
tied St. Benedict for first in the Chicagoland Prep Conference.
– Marengo 6, Grayslake 5-Jenni Kelm (3 for 5) doubled and scored two runs and Becky Haase (2 for 3) drove in the winning run with a fielders choice in the bottom of the 10th as Marengo (12-6, 10-3) edged Grayslake in the Northwest Suburban.
– Deerfield 12, Niles West 2-Jenny Pallatti (3 for 4) had two doubles and drove in two runs as Deerfield (14-8, 8-1) clinched the Central Suburban North with a six-inning victory.
– St. Viator 10, Madonna 0-Michelle Cichon (15-3) pitched a no-hitter and struck out 11 and Jean Korda (3 for 5) smacked two doubles and drove in four as St. Viator (15-6, 13-3) blanked Madonna in the GCAC North.
– Rich East 10, Kankakee 0-Angie Allesandri (8-1) struck out six for the win and Tricia Bargo (2 for 2) scored two runs for No. 4 Rich East (23-2, 9-0) in the SICA South.
– Sandwich regional-In a Class A state tourney opener, Paw Paw (8-5)
eliminated Sandwich 6-5 as Kim Meyer had two hits and scored the winning run. – Aurora Central regional-Shabbona whipped Serena 9-3 as Shannon Conery had two homers and winning pitcher Tiffany Wrigley added four hits and four RBIs. In another game, Illinois Math and Science (11-2) advanced with an 11-2 win over Aurora Central as winning pitcher Danielle Pyevich got three hits and four RBIs and Amy Nopachai had three hits and three runs scored. Stephanie Hann had a three-run double in the fifth and Tonie Coleman (3-4) allowed three hits as Somonauk (16-5) dumped Earlville 12-2 in five innings.
– Geneva regional-Alicia Marcellis got three hits and two RBIs to lead Kaneland (6-15) past Lisle 16-7. Timothy Christian (8-10) beat Wheaton Christian 16-4 as Robin Miedema and winning pitcher Jean Heerdt both had two hits
– Marengo regional-Kim Kreitinger`s two-run single in the fourth made a 2-1 winner of Kirkland-Hiawatha (9-9) against Wauconda (4-11).
SOCCER
– GCAC playoffs-Carmel (12-0-2) and Mother McAuley (9-7-2) advanced to the title game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Carmel got goals from Jamie Langer and Sarah Smith and a shutout from Kim Starzec, her seventh, to beat Marillac 2-0. Jennifer Oprondek, Kelly Linane, Jenny Rodenberg and Kathy Fitzpatrick all scored for McAuley in its 4-3 victory over Queen of Peace.
– Evanston 1, Maine South 1-Erica Handelman scored with 4:07 to go in the first half for No. 7 Evanston (15-4-1, 7-0-1 in the Central Suburban South)
and Emilia Zvizdich tied it with 4:11 to play for Maine South (10-7-2, 6-1-1). – New Trier 5, Maine West 1-Marnie Sher and Emily Retterer each had two goals and an assist for New Trier (12-5-1, 5-1 in the Central Suburban South).
– Cary-Grove 7, Lake Zurich 0-Laura Demke scored six goals and Dana Schwartz one for Cary-Grove (16-3). Goalkeeper Katie Garbacz notched her 12th shutout. – Oak Park 2, York 1-Karin Marino scored unassisted goals in the first and fourth periods as Oak Park (18-8-3, 3-3-2) downed York in the West Suburban Silver.
– Stevenson 7, Fenton 0-Diane Ford, Tina Rajski and Megan Chance each scored two goals as Stevenson (9-8, 8-2) romped in the North Suburban.
– Naperville North 4, Downers Grove South 1-Karla Fritz scored three goals including two in the fourth period and Kristen Knight added another as Naperville North (12-6-2) prevailed over No.4 Downers South in a nonconference contest.
– Highland Park 2, Maine East 2-Jessica Gelman knotted the game at two in the fourth period as Highland Park (7-7-1, 2-4-1) dueled to a tie.
VOLLEYBALL
– Niles West State Invitational-Von Steuben and Niles North each won sectional one openers. Niles North (11-9) beat Leyden 15-10, 15-12 as Joe Yon had seven kills and Eddie Bang five and Von Steuben (8-4) eliminated Notre Dame 15-13, 15-8 as Sam Moon had four kills.
In sectional three, Waukegan East (11-4) defeated Senn 15-10, 15-8 as John Glenn had 15 kills and Blake Ludwig 12 serving points. In another game, Glenbrook South (13-9) eliminated Deerfield 15-5, 15-7.
In sectional four, Tyrone Causey (five kills), Mike Prosek (three kills) and Dave Flores (three kills) led Richards (8-18) past Aurora Christian 15-9, 15-8. In another game, Eisenhower (8-13) edged St. Rita 13-15, 15-10, 19-17 as Tim Welch had eight kills and 10 blocks and John Frasor had 13 serving points.
