A Mason man was killed when his single-engine plane crashed in the back yard of an East Lansing condominium complex. Joe Tiefenthaler`s four-passenger Piper Archer sheared three pine trees before crashing about 6 p.m. Sunday. Tiefenthaler, 57, a recreational pilot since 1986, was flying alone from Mason to Lansing`s Capital City Airport when he had electrical problems, said FAA spokesman Mort Edelstein. No one on the ground was hurt.
