– 1960-Bill Tuttle`s 2-out, 2-run homer off Dick Donovan in the 7th inning gives the A`s a 4-3 victory at Kansas City. With 2 on and 2 out in the 9th, Earl Torgeson lines out to right-fielder Whitey Herzog to end the game. Al Smith goes 3 for 4 with an RBI and Gene Freese drives in a pair in defeat. Sox are 20-15, in 3rd place, 1 game behind Baltimore.

– 1970-Jim Hickman`s 2nd home run of the day, coming off rookie Gene Garber with 1 on and 1 out in the 9th inning, gives the Cubs an 8-7 victory over the Pirates at Wrigley Field. Hickman`s 1st homer, a 2-run shot, had given the Cubs a 6-6 tie in the 7th. Cubs are 23-18, in NL East lead, 2 1/2 games ahead of New York and St. Louis.
