Communism did not collapse because of the system but because of the people within the system. When you talk with a communist worker he reports that he ”takes” so much a month. Here we say we ”make” so much a month. That is a very significant difference.
In the communist countries, the labor force beat the system by not working at a level that will bring in profits or produce products. They made the entire work force into non-productive leeches and drunks.
The trick Gorbachev has to perform is to get the workers back to actually working. That is going to be hard after 50 years of a layabout mentality. Communism has failed because the workers killed it and capitalism will fail them too unless they get back to work.
