After reading Ronald Kotulak and Peter Gorner`s article ”Genetic
`library` reveals the story of life from Day One” (on genetic evolution), I can only surmise that they are asking people to have a great deal of faith in such speculation. Since no one was present to witness the awesome spectacle of the birth of our planet and solar system, it is totally a matter of placing one`s belief in one theory or another.
Perhaps my faith is not as great as that of some of these scientists. I can`t conceive of all these complex, varied, intricately timed events just happening. Despite ”new findings,” I still sense the logic and believability of a simpler explanation from a source that was there. ”In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth . . . and God created mankind in His image.” Genesis 1:1,27.
Perhaps this doesn`t give the scientists and researchers all the freedom of speculation they desire, but it certainly gives mankind the dignity and self-respect we so desperately need today.
