West Chicago`s elementary and high school districts must come up with a new plan to save money because the City Council has denied the agencies`
request for a tax break.
Community High School District 94 and Elementary School District 33 asked city officials to rebate a portion of West Chicago`s utility tax. The schools also asked the city to share its state income tax surcharge revenues.
On Monday, the council said ”no” to both requests.
School officials asked for the breaks because they said they fear the schools will lose money as a result of a tax increment financing district downtown.
