July 5) will have been pleased to read in your pages a few days ago that Chicago`s finest will not only be checking the drivers` condition, but also their licenses, city stickers and, if drivers should displease the officers, their insurance, their turn signals, the depth of their tires` tread, visual obstructions, registration, articles on the front or rear seats, condition of pollution control equipment, practically anything the police want-just like in a police state.
I suppose Ennis and Davidson would have no problem with the police frisking shoppers on State Street-guns, you know, almost as big a problem as drunk driving.
