As a 36-year resident of the State of Illinois, I can say that since Jim Edgar has come into office, my only ambition has been to transfer out.

Mr. Edgar`s latest proposal to have relatives recommend license revocations to the secretary of state`s office is just short of turning Illinois into a Nazi state. We`ve been coming progressively closer to that with some DUI arrests and especially the Supreme Court decision on roadblocks. With Mr. Edgar the law no longer reads ”innocent until proven guilty,” it now reads ”guilty until proven innocent.” Having that ideology filter into our courts is bad enough, but to turn family against family and neighbor against neighbor is reprehensible.
