I heard about the people who were killed in a fire caused by candles which were used during the recent blackout.
We have frequent blackouts here.
I have found that the safest way to use candles then is to put the small votive candles in a glass custard cup or small metal can or a dish. They will not then tip over, and may be left until they burn out.
