Mixed bag, mostly lakers, in 90-110 feet of water off Chicago; silver spoons, flies and dodgers best. Salmon in 140 feet of water off Waukegan, taking black and silver, black and green spoons; few lakers mixed in, on bottom.
MISSISSIPPI RIVER (STAR)(STAR)
Channel catfish abundant at Sabula backwater stumps, wing dams and clam beds. Good-sized bluegills above Sabula. Catfish, bluegills and bass good at Clinton. Sunfish and perch on Lake Onalaska; bass, northern pike and crappies below spillway, on spinners, minnows and suckers.
CHAIN O`LAKES (STAR)(STAR)
Good numbers of bass in deeper channels, on buzzbaits or nightcrawlers. Catfish and stripers still in channels and shorelines. Few nice northern and walleye taken at Bluff Lake. Good bluegill catches at Spring Lake channel. Walleye active around bridges.
KANKAKEE RIVER (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
River clearing. Smallmouth improving at Momence, Wilmington and Kankakee River State Park areas; imitation crayfish, roaches and soft-shells working well. Catfish still hot throughout river. Crappies taken in bays. Mazonia Lakes yielding good numbers of largemouth and crappies; flathead catfish taking golden roaches on slip bobbers.
ILLINOIS RIVER (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
White bass biting by Starved Rock Dam; few walleye taken at seawall. Catfish good throughout river on nightcrawlers, frozen shad and shrimp. Smallmouth taking jigs and twisters and mouths of creeks and along shoreline. Walleye best fishing bottom with jigs and minnows.
LASALLE LAKE (STAR)(STAR)
Warm water temps. Bluegills taking worms along shorelines. Catfish good deep on frozen shad and shrimp. Largemouth fair, drifting nightcrawlers. Hybrid stripers fair trolling dikes with crankbaits.
FOX RIVER (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Smallmouth good wading at Dayton with crankbaits and along shorelines with spinnerbaits. Yellow bass and smallies at Geneva, catfish and carp by dam. Catfish good at Aurora. Smallmouth, catfish, few walleye hitting at Yorkville on minnows, crankbaits and `crawlers.
SHABBONA LAKE (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Muskie action increasing, best in deep trees on bucktails, crankbaits, live bait. Walleye active outside weed edges on leeches, nightcrawlers. Crappie action increasing in brushpiles. Bass improving at deep weed edges. Nice-sized catfish taking stinkbait, live minnows. Bluegills abundant.
DEVIL`S KITCHEN (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Bass good on plastic worms in weed beds. Bluegills taken 15-18 feet deep, in treetops on crickets. Trout good 20-22 feet deep, on pieces of nightcrawlers.
CRAB ORCHARD LAKE (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Bass good in grassy areas, under timber. Crappies fair. Bluegills good close to shore on crickets and mealworms. Channel catfish good on `crawlers.
FOREST PRESERVES (STAR)(STAR)
Tampier yielding largemouth, few crappies and bluegills. Channel catfish and crappies active at Saganashkee. Largemouth taken at Busse.
LAKE SHELBYVILLE (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Crappies still active in timbered coves, 12-15 feet deep, on small minnows and tinsel jigs. Walleye slow. White bass fair to good. Largemouth fair.
MICHIANA (STAR)(STAR)
Action tapering off close to shore. Perch turned off at Indiana and Michigan shorelines. Dean Mitchell yielding few smallmouth and perch. Action best deep off Portage for lakers, few coho. Kings, coho, steelhead and lakers off St. Joseph in 90-100 feet of water, 40-55 feet down on orange and green spoons. Skamania fair at Berrien Springs Dam. Action best deep off New Buffalo, top 20 feet of 70-300 feet of water for kings, coho and steelhead.
MANISTEE, MICH. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Coho averaging nine pounds, in top 30 feet in 50-100 feet of water. Chinook active at Manistee Harbor on J-Plugs. Steelhead good on surface lines out from Manistee. Northern pike excellent at Manistee Lake. Night-time walleye fishing good using deep-diving crankbaits. Salmon appearing in Big Manistee River.
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (STAR)(STAR)
Few salmon and steelhead in close to shore, few in Grand River. Colder temps bringing salmon into 30 feet of water. Smallmouth and catfish slowing down.
MADISON, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Good catches of perch and bluegills on Monona, on waxworms and helgrammites, at weedlines. Bass good on all lakes, just inside weedline to 15-20 feet out, on plastic worms, jig and pig and spinners. Many undersized walleye at Mendota.
MERCER, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Turtle-Flambeau Flowage and Spider Lake yielding good muskie catches. Largemouth hitting on Wilson. Walleye slow. Good bass catches areawide.
EAGLE RIVER, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Walleye suspended, deep during day, best taken working sandy and rocky shorelines at night using minnows-Butternut and Eagle Chain best. Muskies improving, good numbers of small-to-medium-sized fish on bucktails, surface baits, at deep edges of weeds. Crappies still active on Kentuck.
LAKE WINNEBAGO, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)
Perch still active on helgrammites. Walleye good at Butte des Morts, Sunset Point. White bass slowed. Bluegills active by Main St. bridge.
LAKE GENEVA, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)
Largemouth taken in Geneva Bay. Northern active on leeches, nightcrawlers, spinnerbaits, trolling in 18 feet of water. Walleye active off beach at Fontana, 20 feet down.
HAYWARD, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Muskies hitting on Chippewa Flowage on bucktails, black spinnerbaits. Nelson yielding crappies, bluegills and bass on leeches, minnows. Walleye improving on live bait.
DOOR COUNTY, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Sturgeon Bay perch taken on bottom on minnows and nightcrawlers. Walleye good in Sturgeon on orange and black Rapalas and Rebels. Chinook taken deep, off bank reef, 80-110 feet down in 120-130 feet of water, on spoons. Bass and perch good at Sand Bay and Larsen`s Reef. Northern improving at Potawatomi Park, trolling Rapalas.
RACINE AND KENOSHA, WIS. (STAR)(STAR)
Lakers best catch at stateline in 90-125 feet of water, on bottom. Browns taking tube jigs and Little Cleos at Kenosha harbor. Perch shut down since wind.
WISCONSIN RIVER (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Walleyes, northern, crappies and bluegills at Castle Rock. Smallmouth and walleye active below Dells Dam on silver Shad Raps. Stripers fair.
LAKE ERIE (STAR)(STAR)
Walleye action still spotty at C-Can; several limits taken in deep water between West and Middle Sister Islands. Best luck when trolling Hot`n Tots, Wiggle Warts. Perch just starting.
MARK TWAIN LAKE, MO. (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
Excellent largemouth bass catches on deep-running crankbaits. Crappies fair. Catfish action sporadic.

Largmouth still excellent on worms, pig and jig, crankbaits, at main points. White bass good at dam, trolling crankbaits and spoons. Crappies good off main channels, 6 feet deep on minnows and jigs. Walleye fair on minnows, jigs, small crankbaits. Catfish taking leeches and goldfish.
