What is Mayor Daley trying to accomplish by asking the U.S. Senate to support a proposal allowing local governments to levy taxes against airline passengers? His plan for a third city airport is rather like putting the cart before the horse.
He is banking on tax revenue not even realized. I work hard for every dollar earned. At the end of every month I balance my checkbook, plan a budget and put something away for the future. I can`t always buy the things I want, but I provide for the things I need. The City of Chicago doesn`t need another airport, but Mayor Daley wants one. Mr. Daley, the taxpayers of this country are not a convenient cash station!
