Occupation: Singer.
Birthday: June 20, 1945.
Birthplace: Springhill, Nova Scotia.
Current home: Toronto.
Marital status: Married for 15 years to Bill Langstroth.
Children: William, 13, and Dawn, 11.
Car: A dark-blue 1984 Volvo 760.
Working on: I have a new album, ”You Will”; I`m scheduled to appear at Poplar Creek tonight, Aug. 19; and I`m promoting the Anne Murray Center in Springhill, which houses memorabilia from my life and career.
The last good movie I saw was: ”Scandal.”
The book I`ve been recommending lately is: ”The Road from Coorain,” by Jill Ker Conway.
Favorite pigout food: Lobster.
Favorite performers: Rosemary Clooney and Dusty Springfield.
Prized possession: My father`s fraternity pin.
I`m as good as anyone else when it comes to: Singing, and I`m better than most at entertaining.
I`d give anything to meet: I`m always scared to meet people because I think I`m going to be disappointed. I had a chance to meet Katharine Hepburn, and I turned it down.
I hope I never have to: Stop playing golf and tennis. I have a bad back, and I worry that I might become crippled.
The worst part of my job is: Being away from home. I`m away about 80 days a year, but it seems longer. When you miss time with your kids, it`s gone forever.
I can`t stand: Littering and hotels with windows that don`t open.
People who knew me in high school thought I was: Terrific.
My most irrational act: I`ve only lost my temper twice in my life. Once was when I was teaching, when I took a girl by the scruff of the neck, shoved her against a wall and almost hit her.
The best time of my life: Since I turned 40. I`m just so much more relaxed. I don`t have a bunch of things to prove, I work where and when I want, I play and watch as much sports as I want- it`s great.
The worst time of my life: My 20s. I didn`t know if I wanted to be famous or not, I didn`t know how to get this career off the ground and I just wanted to quit most of the time.
Three words that best describe me: Class, kindness and integrity.
