A Blue Island man accused of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in 1989 and of an unrelated attack on a passenger on a Metra station platform has been found to be competent to stand trial.

A psychiatric report made public Monday by a Markham judge also said that Perry Hernandez, 25, of 13432 S. Mozart Ave., was sane at the time of the alleged offenses. Associate Judge John Wasilewski then continued the case to Sept. 4.
