A new state program designed to help potential first-time home buyers save money for a down payment will begin Sept. 1, state Treasurer Jerry Cosentino said Monday.
The Home Ownership Made Easy (HOME) program allows adults who have not owned a home within two years and who have at least $250 to deposit that money in a pool, which the treasurer`s office then invests.
The program, proposed by Cosentino, was approved in 1989 by the General Assembly. For more information or to apply, call: 1-800-535-1164.
