Early in the 1960s a major steel producer raised prices under circumstances that were unjustified, just as in today`s oil situation. President Kennedy went on national radio and television and castigated him in no uncertain terms. The price increase was withdrawn the next day.

Compare that with President Bush`s mild admonition to the oil companies to ”show restraint.”

During a debate, Lloyd Bentsen said to Dan Quayle, ”Senator, you`re no Jack Kennedy.” Apparently the same thing can be said of George Bush.
