Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
This Boston trio plays tight, tuneful power pop, with just enough ragged edges to keep things consistently interesting. Spare but rugged guitar and a big, fat bass line give drummer Mark Rivers plenty of room to roam, and his rhythmic explosions turn cuts such as ”Tayter County” into giddy thrill rides. The boyish voices of the trio blend nicely without the vanilla wimpiness endemic to such pop outfits. Echoes abound of `60s garage rock, early Who, mid-period Replacements and late-`60s Beatles. Put it together and you`ve got one of the year`s most irresistible albums.
