A former Chicago police officer challenged a Missouri extradition order Friday in Cook County Criminal Court to avoid being taken back to that state to face charges that he kidnapped two Kansas City men while posing as a federal drug enforcement agent.

Steven Manning, 40, filed a writ of habeas corpus in response to a governor`s warrant that would return him to Missouri to face charges of two counts of kidnapping and two counts of criminal action, according to Assistant State`s Atty. Joseph Nigro.
