I would like to thank the number of Chicago baseball players-the real professionals-who take the time to sign kids` autograph requests. The excitement it generates for each kid, that he or she has a bit of history in that scrawl, has made me a believer that decency in sports still exists beyond the big-buck salaries.

Even a wave to a kid means more to them than the grandest hit. After all, if it weren`t for the kids out there screaming at him after a game, during a game, a player would be just a face in the crowd, too.
