Because of the rapid escalation of events in the Middle East, should we not be asking some fundamental questions quickly?
We`re told our motive is defense. But now it`s clear that the pouring in of offensive weapons gives the lie to our stated ”defensive” position. If
”preserving our life style” is our motive, we have totally sold our souls, but then maybe I`m just hopelessly idealistic in still thinking America represents more than naked greed.
Why the macho stance of an unwillingness even to listen to any suggestion of negotiation and diplomacy? It`s alarming and frightening to see how little we seem to have learned from past disastrous forays such as Vietnam.
And could our president be a little more sensitive and empathetic considering the sacrifice being asked of many Americans already and postpone his golf for awhile?
