Mike Ditka arrived at his Merrillville, Ind., restaurant via helicopter Tuesday as the luncheon headliner.
But Ditka doesn`t expect the Green Bay Packers` Don Majkowski to fall out of the sky and start at quarterback Sunday when the Bears travel to Lambeau Field.
Anthony Dilweg started for the Packers and led them to a 36-24 victory over the Rams last Sunday as recently re-signed Majkowski watched from the sidelines. Green Bay coach Lindy Infante said he would not decide until later this week whether Majkowski or Dilweg would start against the Bears.
”If Lindy plays quarterback, the system won`t change,” Ditka said. ”I have great respect for Lindy and the organization up there. If they do start Dilweg, it wouldn`t be an upset. I don`t care who they start. But it would seem to me that they will start Dilweg. If he had a problem, then (Infante)
would come in with Majkowski.
”I`m not telling them who to start. They have more than a quarterback on that team. They have good receivers, they have a good line and a good running back, good defense and good special teams right now.”
Majkowski led the Pack to two wins over the Bears last season, including that controversial, last-minute 14-13 triumph in Green Bay.
