As a born and bred Chicagoan who adores this wonderland on the lake, I lament the passing of the Acorn on Oak and the truly unique Buddy Charles. Mike Royko`s column cannot be improved upon.
This August we celebrated my 43rd birthday at Pizzeria Uno and with a visit to the Acorn. As the evening was coming to its close, Buddy hugged me and gave me a pat. I said, ”Buddy, you`ve been doing that since I was 17.”
