My dictionary defines ”infamy” as ”disgrace” or ”great wickedness.” I guess that Rick Kogan (In the Tribune`s Tempo) would have volunteered to be in the first wave of infantry to invade Japan in World War II. That, of course, was an option to not dropping ”the bomb” on Aug. 6, 1945.
To call that a day ”that will live in infamy” and compare it to the Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese is hypocrisy at its highest level. Countless American lives were saved by using ”the bomb,” and the only thing infamous is Mr. Kogan`s comparison.
